How to Submit Your Blog to Search Engines
Getting your blog noticed, and drawing in some of these elusive visitors is much easier if you indexed against the major search engines. Here's how to subscribe to your blog on search engines.
Google
Google is listed by far the most popular search engine, and the most important place to your blog. To submit your blog at Google, you must have a Google account, you can get a free Google account and e-mail address, which you can then use to access their full range of webmaster tools. To submit your site to Google Webmaster Tools and select the option "Add a site". Follow the instructions and add the URL of your blog. Google will ask you to verify that you are the owner of the site by adding a small file or meta tag to your blog. Once you have done this, follow the steps to make sure that your blog has been detected. Next, click on the 'Add Sitemap' option. If you prefer, you can use one of the many free tools available online to create a sitemap of your blog, but an easier way to create a Sitemap is simply the URL of your RSS feed as a sitemap location.
Yahoo
Yahoo allows you to log into their Google Webmaster Tools with your account if you do not already have a Yahoo account. In the same way as Google, Yahoo allows you to submit the URL of your blog, and asks you to ownership by checking a file or a small piece of code to your blog. You can then use your Sitemap and RSS feeds on the sidebar menu.
Bing
Windows Live is Microsoft's own search engine, and you can log in their webmaster tools with your Microsoft Hotmail or Live account. If you do not already have an account, you can free up one. Submit your site in the same way as you would for Google or Yahoo, and confirm the ownership by the code on your blog. Select the file "crawl" menu to your sitemap.
Apart from the major search engines, also consider submitting to this growing search engines: DuckDuckGo.com, Ask.com, and Teoma.com. If you do not have time to complete filings even consider outsourcing the work to a search engine optimization company or with a submission software, but the manual template always preferable to insure the acceptance of your blog.
